being a pirate is not that difficult! all you really need are some free tools and common sense. if you’ve been on the internet i’m trusting you know to keep an eye out for sketchy files, scams, and stuff like that, but keep an extra eye open when looking for torrents. i’m not responsible for any damage caused to your computer thru torrenting !! anyway, here is what you’ll need:
- a vpn. this protects you from your isp, which probably doesn’t like you torrenting things. first things first, NEVER USE A FREE VPN. the one i recommend is mullvad. i trust it, and the account and payment model are about as non-predatory as i’ve seen.
- a torrent client. this is what you use to actually download the torrent’s data. i recommend deluge and qbittorrent
- a tracker. this is where you can find torrents and people seeding them. there are a fair amount of them out there. there are two different types of trackers, public1 and private2, with private ones usually being the safest and most reliable, but require an invite or an application that is reviewed. there are some pretty good open general purpose ones tho. first one is rutracker, it’s all in russian so you’ll have to translate the page3 and make an account, but it’s pretty safe and easy past that. if you don’t wanna do that, you can try one of the open ones, like a pirate bay proxy or 1337x.
there you go! that’s all you need to be a pirate >:) !! most software that needs special installation should come with a file that looks like install.txt or something similar. if it doesn’t refer to the site you downloaded it from, it should have instructions on it. enjoy your legal software!
